Fallout from a, disappointing for some, end to the transfer window provides us with our first banner. The Sun’s take on the story was less about the player, Riyad Mahrez, than his team who (according to the paper) are increasingly miffed about his not showing up to tra...

The Independent teased us with what sounded like an arty documentary when describing the Chelsea manager’s efforts to navigate his team out of the doldrums. 'Conte’s late-night blues’ BBC4 at 22:00; perhaps with a soothing Bob Harris narration and a large dollop of arc...

'January. Sick and tired, you've been hanging on me,' as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may well be singing, right now (assuming he’s a fan of early 70s soft rock). Blue Horseshoe certainly loves the Dortmund player and so do our writers with The Express leading the pack wi...

With the transfer window now open we could have filled this week’s spot with nothing but headlines concerning the month’s musical chairs merry-go-round. But that was before Liverpool crashed Manchester City’s party and turned the music off.

The fall-out from the Manchester derby produced this week’s storm in a teacup. Lukaku brought the milk and then seemed to go into a sulk about people noticing how little else he had brought to United’s recent performances. The Sun was there to take advantage, making us...

The Manchester and Liverpool derbies on Sunday sucked most of the air out of the footballing news but The Mirror did manage to sneak in one headline of note before succumbing. Over the image of an upside-down Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang they ran with 'Come On Auba To Our...

December 7, 2017

Thanks to clashes with The Ashes currently taking place down under and the Rugby World Cup, football headline writers were having to fight for space on the back pages. Those at the Daily Express seemed most rattled, drafting in Maradona to help maintain their dominance...

November 18, 2017

The international break meant slim pickings for our pun writers. Instead of having an entire league or two to play with they were restricted to only those people and issues in around the national sides. This was a tough challenge but there was a clear winner in the bad...
